Meet The Trainer

Melissa Peterson-Ney KPA CTP

My passion for dog training began when I was very young. I was a member of the Kenosha County 4-H Dog Project while in Grade School and High School. After graduating, I continued to work with the kids and dogs in the program as a Trainer. I also served a number of years on the Kenosha County 4-H Dog Project Board of Directors.

Furthering my passion, I entered competitions earning many titles in obedience, nose work, rally, and dock diving. I attended several seminars to learn as much as I could about dog training. Seminar topics included behavior, nutrition and training. There are numerous theories on how to train a dog. Thru that I found fear free, positive reinforcement dog training fascinating. Training new behaviors with play and rewards, your dog learns the behaviors firmer and they are eager to learn more.

I have 20+ years of experience teaching obedience classes for all ages. The joy of teaching others lead me to enroll into the Karen Pryor Academy in 2021. While attending, I earned credentials as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. Extending my qualifications, in 2023, I added Certified Fear Free Animal Trainer to my credentials.

I look forward to working with you and your dog, to help create a lifelong communication, and an incredible bond together.
